Do you ever wonder…

Filed under: Food for Thought — Chantelle @ 3:24 pm

About your own sanity?

I do.

Am I paranoid? Maybe, or close to.

See, ever since that window got broken, I can’t sleep through the night.

At least not when I’m alone.

Even though we have an alarm system, I still wake up in terror every time I hear a noise.

I’m in a different place, which is much more secure.

It helps some to know that I have an alarm system. But when I’m by myself, it’s still not enough. I still wake up through the night listening to the creaks and groans of the house settling.

Is that sane?

  1. I like the shotgun idea, however I suggest a water gun as a burglar will never see that coming… and you can’t get charged for harming someone… stupid laws… *growls at Criminal Code*

Or perhaps have a pitchfork as these city robbers will never have dealt with that before and become flabbergasted (I used a big word before 9 a.m.!!) and either start laughing or run away from sheer uncertainty on how to deal with said pitchfork…

Ultimately though you have a wide range of weaponry in your home defense arsenal…

And remember, hairspray is a good substitute for bear mace or pepper spray…

  2. Easy to state tougher to inform how to achieve it….

    Noises in the night.

If possible, attempt to differentiate between the inevitable noises of house settling and the creaks and groanlets of expanding/contracting wood and metal.

Filter out the harmless noises from those that MAY inform of a possible threat.

If alone, acquire a shotgun and have it nearby, loaded.

If noise indicates intruder presence hunker down in a corner and aim shotgun at entrance to your room.

If intruder appears and is not a visitor forgotten about or other non-threat open fire.

Odds are this event will never happen but……….
